Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is seemingly intent on adding to his side’s English core at the back.
The Daily Mail report that LVG is keen to sign Everton centre-half John Stone this summer – a deal which would make him the fourth senior England international defender currently at Old Trafford, along with Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

Stone has been capped four times by Roy Hodgson’s England first team, but his is currently with Gareth Southgate’s Under-21 side preparing for Euro 2015.
If United are serious about landing Stones, they are likely to have to stump up a big transfer fee.
After all, the 21-year-old signed a new £30,000-a-week contract with Everton back in August. That deal runs until June 2019.
