Manchester United experienced major controversy with Real Madrid, as they were unable to sell goalkeeper David de Gea on deadline day due to required paperwork being sent in a minute past the European transfer deadline.
Despite the friction between the two clubs following the incident, the Daily Star reports that the Red Devils are keen on making a bid for defender Raphael Varane.
The Red Devils were keen to bolster their defence in the summer, as they made an aggressive pursuit for Sergio Ramos.
Ramos put transfer rumours to rest for the time being after signing a contract extension through until 2020.
The Red Devils have also attempted to sign striker Gareth Bale, and they attempted to use de Gea as a bargaining chip both times since Real Madrid wanted him.
However, Man United are shifting their focus to Varane if Real Madrid are willing to forgive and forget.
Chelsea are also eyeing Varane though, so Real Madrid may feel more inclined to negotiate with the Blues if they are willing to sell the French international.
