Manchester United and Liverpool are believed to be heading the pack hoping to sign £25m AS Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia when the transfer window reopens.
Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb claims that the North West rivals are willing to offer the French powerhouse a regular starting spot in order to beat off competition from Chelsea and Arsenal.

United boss Louis van Gaal has made signing a holder midfielder a priority this summer, and Liverpool are looking to fill the sizeable void left by departing talisman Steven Gerrard.
However, Kondogbia is on a lucrative contract until 2018 and is likely to demand a hefty fee, having cost Monaco almost £20m when he joined from Sevilla in 2013.
The 22-year-old made 33 appearances in all competitions this season to help Leonardo Jardim’s side finish third in Ligue 1 and reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
