Van Gaal keen to bolster his backline with key member of Netherlands squad.
Manchester United have approached Feyenoord regarding a potential move for Dutch right-back Daryl Janmaat, according to the Daily Mail.
The 24-year-old has also attracted interest from Napoli, Tottenham Hotspur Arsenal and Leicester City.
United’s right-back responsibilities were shared between Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Rafael da Silva last season, but new boss Louis van Gaal is keen to strengthen his options in the area further.
Van Gaal is currently in charge of the Netherlands at the FIFA World Cup, where he selected Janmaat as a starter in all three group games.
Janmaat has just one year left to run on his current contract with Feyenoord and he has already informed that Rotterdam club that he is leaving this summer.
The Leidschendam-born star featured in 30 Eredivisie games last season, scoring two goals and providing five assists. He made 79 tackles, 43 interceptions and 89 clearances.
