With Real Madrid closing in on a transfer for disgruntled stopper David de Gea, Man United are making one last bid to keep their star goalkeeper.
According to the Metro, Man United will offer de Gea improved terms on his current deal in an effort to keep the rebellious star at Old Trafford. However, the report the Metro compiled indicates that de Gea will not re-sign with the Red Devils no matter what the terms of the new deal are, and that he plans to join Real Madrid before the end of the summer.
A two-time winner of the Man United Players’ Player of the Year award, the 24-year-old Spanish stopper joined Man United after spending his early senior years with Atletico Madrid. Last season De Gea was the only member of the Red Devils to make the Premier League PFA Team of the Year, recording 10 clean sheets as Man United finished fourth on the Premier League table.
De Gea is also considered the heir apparent to Iker Casillas’s position as Spain’s No. 1 goalkeeper for the international team.
