Manchester United have reportedly made an offer of £60m for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
Louis van Gaal is believed to be desperate to partner the Uruguayan with captain Wayne Rooney next season as the Red Devils return to the Champions League.
The United manager turned down the chance to sign Radamel Falcao on a permanent deal and is also willing to offload £250,000-per-week Robin van Persie to make room for Cavani, according to the Daily Star.

The former Arsenal forward has admitted that he may have to leave Old Trafford to avoid sitting on the bench and has been linked with Serie A giants Roma and Lazio.
Chelsea are also understood to be interested in Cavani, but risk being blown out of the water by United, who apparently have a summer transfer budget of £200m.
Cavani, 27, has scored 53 goals in 88 games for PSG since joining in a £55m deal from Napoli in 2013, but has not always been happy with playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
