Manchester United have reportedly enquired over Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin.
The Red Devils seem poised to complete a mega £36m deal for AS Monaco teenager Anthony Martial.
And the London Evening Standard claims that they are now targeting Austin to boost their strike force.
Javier Hernandez has been sold to Bayer Leverkusen and Adnan Januzaj has gone on loan to Borussia Dortmund, leaving only captain Wayne Rooney and youngster James Wilson in United’s forward ranks.
Austin has been heavily tipped to return to the Premier League after QPR’s relegation, but is yet to be snapped up despite apparent interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
But the Hoops are believed to be willing to sell the 25-year-old, who scored 18 top-flight goals last season, on deadline day if their £15m asking price is met, and United could yet swoop for his signature.
