Manchester United are reportedly desperate to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani as a replacement for Robin van Persie.
Cavani has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League giants, but the departure of Dutch striker Robin van Persie means United boss Louis van Gaal is keen to bring in a high-quality replacement.
According to Guardian journalist Jamie Jackson, United have made the Uruguayan its key transfer target this summer.
“Edinson Cavani is Manchester United’s prime target to replace Robin van Persie,” he told TalkSport.
“Liverpool are more keen on Christian Benteke than United. Benteke is on United’s list, and there is interest there, but he’s not top of the list at the moment.”
Cavani has starred for the Ligue 1 giants since joining the club from Serie A side Napoli in 2013, scoring 34 goals in 65 league matches.
The 28-year-old still has three years remaining on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and United will no doubt have to dig deep into its coffers to snare the signature of Cavani.
