The Italian tactician is regarded as one of the finest coaches in the game after a long career of success at the likes of AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as his achievements at the Bernabeu.
Ancelotti only lasted two seasons at Chelsea, but won the double in his first year in charge, which makes him a tempting candidate to replace two struggling bosses at the Manchester clubs.
Louis van Gaal’s tactics have been unconvincing in his first season at Old Trafford, while Manuel Pellegrini’s Man City side look well short of the quality they showed in winning the title last season.
