In yet another snag for Manchester United’s pursuit of Real Madrid star defender Sergio Ramos, one of Ramos’s international teammates says he doesn’t expect the La Liga club to sell.
According to the Metro, Barcelona midfielder and Ramos’s fellow Spanish national team member Andres Iniesta stated that Ramos is the best in the world at his position and that Real Madrid simply won’t let him go, despite Ramos’s numerous and public complaints about the team.
“I’ve always said that Ramos is one of the best centre-backs in the world,” Iniesta said. “I don’t think they’ll let him go.”
Man United has been very keen to acquire Ramos and the feeling has reportedly been mutual. Last month Real Madrid reportedly turned down a £35 million offer for the prized center-back.
The 10-year Real Madrid veteran Ramos was named La Liga Best Defender in three straight years (2012-2014) and is a four-time member of the UEFA Team of the Year. Ramos has 40 goals in 314 League appearances and 10 international goals – including two game-winners against France and Sweden.
Ramos has stated his intense desire to join the Premier League and some suspect that his burning hatred for Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is driving him to join one of the league’s top contenders.
