Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has turned down the opportunity to follow Angel di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.
According to Daily Express, the 34-year-old was targeted by PSG boss Laurent Blanc after United announced the signings of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.
Carrick is could drop behind the new duo in the pecking order at Old Trafford, however the England international has decided to remain at the club and fight for a spot in Louis van Gaal’s starting XI.
The former Tottenham man signed a new one-year deal with Manchester United in March and has rejected a move to PSG despite Laurent Blanc reportedly being a massive fan of the midfielder.
PSG are in the final stages of its pursuit of United winger Angel di Maria, with the Argentine international pictured at Doha airport ahead of a medical on Monday.
Following the medical at the Aspire training centre, Di Maria is expected to fly to Paris and complete his transfer to the Ligue 1 giants.
