The French champions were hit with disciplinary action and sanctions last year after failing to adhere to the regulations, however they have now been lifted which in turn gives them more freedom in the transfer market.
It appears as though they are unlikely to waste any time, as although they are likely to have to give up on their pursuit of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba who could be bound for Barcelona, they have identified Di Maria as a viable alternative.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, they will make an offer for the Argentine international and give him a chance to leave the Premier League behind after an ultimately disappointing first year.
Whether or not the former Real Madrid man is ready to quit Old Trafford after just one season remains to be seen, but it is certainly an intriguing move from the French giants who will look to bolster their squad further ahead of the new campaign.
Having won all the domestic titles in recent years, PSG are looking for a Champions League triumph next season and Di Maria may well be one of many new faces given that they no longer have to worry about a limit to their spending.
