Darmian was seen flying out of Milan on Friday ahead of his medical in England, as he closes in on a move reportedly worth around €18m.
“I’m very excited and ready for this new adventure. It’s a dream, but I am superstitious, so I don’t want to say anything until we’ve signed the paperwork,” he told Sky Sport Italia, as reported by Football Italia.
“I say thank you to Torino and the Toro fans, who were fantastic to me over these years.”
The versatile full back is seen as a key addition to Louis Van Gaal’s squad, and it will be a continuation of his development in recent years that has seen him establish himself as a regular for the Azzurri.
United fans will hope that his arrival marks the start of a busy end to the summer with the new campaign fast approaching, but Darmian’s signing is certainly an astute move from Van Gaal as he aimed to bolster his defence.
