Manchester United summer signing Anthony Martial made his full debut during the Red Devils’ 2-1 Champions League loss to PSV Eindhoven, but he almost missed the trip to the Phillips Stadium altogether.
According to The Guardian, the United team bus departed for the match without the £36m former AS Monaco man, before someone had realised Martial was not onboard.
The bus was reportedly then stopped, leaving an embarrassed Martial to run out of the hotel to join his teammates on route to the clash.
It wasn’t a great night all round for Martial and his teammates after they were defeated 2-1 by the Dutch giants despite Memphis Depay opening proceedings with a well-taken finish.
Hector Moreno cancelled out Depay’s opener before Luciano Narsingh hit was was to be the match-winner in the 57th minute.
United’s loss was compounded with the news that Luke Shaw will miss the rest of the season after suffering a horror double fracture to his right leg.
