Man United new boy Memphis Depay is adamant that he will be able to live up to playing with the No.7 shirt at Old Trafford.
The 21-year-old made his Premier League debut in the 1-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford on Saturday, and showed glimpses of his talent.
While the Dutchman was also involved in the winning goal, he insists that he will get better as the season goes on and is confident that he will live up to wearing the infamous No.7 shirt at United.

Predicted Man City XI vs West Brom
“Yes, of course (I’m aware of the pressure) and the history,” the United forward said, as reported by Sky Sports.
“I appreciate the history, but I want to be my own man. It’s an honour to wear the number seven and I will wear it with pride.”
Depay scored 22 goals for PSV last season, which in turn earned him the £25m move to Old Trafford to be reunited with Louis Van Gaal.
However, the Dutch tactician may need to tinker with his formation and system at times with Depay struggling to get going in the final third while Wayne Rooney was isolated.
“I’m aware of that and I want to be as good as possible this year,” Depay added. “I want to bring creative things, goals. I have to play with discipline in midfield.
“I can’t lose the ball too much, but I can make risks on the sides and when I come into the third phase, then I can make my tricks and take risks.”
Regardless of any problems that they may have encountered on the opening day, Van Gaal is adamant that they will be fine as they are if they continue without signing another attacking player.
