Losing Pedro may have been a blessing in disguise for Man United if it means they’ll pick up Charlie Austin.
QPR scoring machine Charlie Austin has been linked with a move back to the Premier League – but Man United appear to be a new favorite to land him.
According to the Metro, bookmakers have slashed the odds on Man United to land the 26-year-old Englishman with Befred going to far as to improve the chance from 25/1 to 12/1.
The change comes almost immediately after the Red Devils were embarrassed by Chelsea’s sudden swoop on their main summer transfer target Pedro Rodriguez. The Blues secured the Barcelona super winger on a transfer that was made official earlier today.
Charlie Austin has recorded double-digit scoring seasons in nine of his 10 senior seasons since he was a teenage wonderkid with Kintbury Rangers back in 2006. After recording a hat-trick in a win over West Bromwich back in December, Austin was named Premier League Player of the Month.
The QPR scoring machine recorded 18 goals for the club last season – good for 4th best in the league – but his offensive output couldn’t match their defensive failures and QPR was relegated after just one year in the Premier League.
In just three games in the Championship division this season, Austin already has two goals.
