Ramos has been heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils, and Spanish radio station Cadena SER [via Metro] reports the Premier League giants have offered the 29-year-old a five-year deal worth £39m.
According to the report, Real Madrid are not prepared to put forward a contract anywhere near United’s deal.
United are believed to have had two transfer offers for Ramos knocked back from Real Madrid, and Cadena SER’s report is certainly questionable considering a fee has not been agreed between the two clubs.
To make matters more complicated, Real Madrid are keen to sign 24-year-old United shot-stopper David de Gea.
According to The Mirror, United had a £30m offer for Ramos turned down by Real Madrid officials and will only increase its offer unless the Spanish giants also table a higher bid for de Gea.
United are believed to value de Gea at £35m despite the fact the former Atletico man is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.
Real Madrid’s opening offer is understood to have been just below £20m, well off United’s valuation.
The Mirror’s report suggests that despite offers for both players currently independent of each other, it is expected the two deals will merge and a compromise will be reached.
