The United No.1 has been continually linked with a return to Spain with Real Madrid after failing to commit to a new contract, with his current deal set to expire in just over a year.
However, the Daily Star report that Mendes is due in Manchester this week with the express aim of negotiating a new, £140,000 per-week contract for De Gea with the only sticking point coming over a buy-out clause.
The club currently value their first choice shot-stopper at up to £50 million, however mindful that he may want to leave at some point in the future, Mendes and De Gea wish the figure to be much lower at £35m
The length of De Gea’s prospective new deal has also yet to be agreed upon but talks are expected to progress quickly with United wary of to address the issue before his contract expires.
The star also report Mendes will seek a decision from United over the future of Radamel Falcao and whether the club will sign him on a permanent basis or allow him to return to Monaco in the summer.
