According to the Metro, Man United are keeping a very close eye on the ongoing discussions between Arsenal and Real Madrid with the possibility of making a last second bid for the scoring superstar very much on the table.
Though Louis van Gaal is reportedly not pursuing a deal for Benzema, he Old Trafford boss has openly expressed concern over his forwards’ inability to score – with Wayne Rooney being shut out in a third straight Premier League match.
A €35 million signing out of Lyon in 2009, Karim Benzema has been Real Madrid’s most consistent striker not-named-Ronaldo over the last six seasons.
Benzema has recorded double-digit league goals and 20+ total goals in each of the last five years and in seven of the last eight.
