Premier League title hopefuls Manchester United were given a severe reality check on Sunday.
The Red Devils, who had not conceded a goal in three domestic games going into their match at the Liberty Stadium, were beaten 2-1 by Swansea City.
A well-taken finish by Juan Mata from close range on 49 minutes set United seemingly on their way to their third win of the 2015-16 Premier League season, but goals from Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis brought Louis van Gaal’s men down to Earth with a bang.
Here, we rate and slate Van Gaal’s players based on their performances in South Wales.

Sergio Romero – 4/10
Three clean sheets in three before today, but his honeymoon period came to an abrupt end as he looked suspect for both Swansea goals, especially the winner from Gomis, which he let softly slip under his body.
Matteo Darmian – 6/10
Neat and tidy in possession and OK defensively, but there were no attacking heroics on this occasion.
Chris Smalling – 6/10
Very busy, making five clearances. Coped fairly well with Gomis, while his partner struggled with the big Frenchman.
Daley Blind – 5/10
Has been one of United’s star men so far this season, but he found the going tough today. Blind was overpowered by Gomis and outrun by Ayew.
