ST: Wayne Rooney – 7/10
The England skipper could not get off the mark for the season, but his overall performance was much improved. Set Depay up for a great hat-trick chance with the most delightful of first-time flicks.
Substitutes
Bastian Schweinsteiger – 6/10
Perhaps the most eventful of the German’s three United cameos. He had a couple of decent chances to open his own club account, and perhaps should have scored when his touch let him down in the box.
Javier Hernandez – 7/10
The Mexican made his first appearance of the season and was given a warm welcome by the Old Trafford faithful. Looked very bright around the box and is a great option for Van Gaal off the bench.
Marouane Fellaini – 7/10
Was perhaps chucked on for Rooney for the final stages with very little thought, but ended up making a big contribution as he headed in a third which gives United a comfortable cushion to take to Belgium.
