Manchester United’s quest to sign a top-quality right-back was dealt a blow recently as the Red Devils were beaten by rivals Liverpool in the battle for England star Nathaniel Clyne, who moved to Anfield from Southampton in a £12.5m deal.
United are now set to raid Everton for the Republic of Ireland’s Seamus Coleman, according to the Daily Star, who claim manager Louis van Gaal will use centre-half Jonny Evans as bait in a part-exchange bid.

The Old Trafford club are aware that Evans alone will not be enough to persuade Everton to part with their star man – the Red Devils will have to make it a player-plus-cash offer.
Evans has just 12 months left to run on his current contract at Old Trafford.
He made just 14 Premier League appearances last season – 12 as a starter – as he struggled to hold down a regular place in Van Gaal’s side.
Meanwhile, Coleman, who has four years remain on his contract, featured in 35 of Everton’s 38 league matches last season, contributing three goals and two assists.
