Manchester United will go all out to sign Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen should David de Gea join Real Madrid, according to reports.
Cillessen has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent times and has already worked under Louis van Gaal with the Dutch national team.
Real Madrid are understood to remain keen in De Gea, and Van Gaal made the decision to leave the 24-year-old out of the United squad that defeated Tottenham 1-0 on the Premier League’s opening day.
Sergio Romero was selected in between the sticks by Van Gaal and performed admirably despite a nervous start, however, The Sun reports United will look to bring Cillessen in as the club’s new number one should De Gea leave.
Ajax are believed to be desperate to keep hold of Cillessen, but a Premier League move could prove to too big of an offer for the 26-year-old to turn down.
According to the report, United will have to cough up around £20m to sign Cillessen before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
