Manchester United are believed to have turned their attention to Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann after missing out on Pedro to Chelsea.
Pedro is expected to complete a transfer from Barcelona to Stamford Bridge today after United hesitated with their potential deal for the World Cup winner.
But Louis van Gaal has admitted that he needs to add “speed and creativity” to his attack before the transfer deadline and so is still in the market.
According to the Daily Mail, Griezmann is on his radar after a hugely impressive debut season at the Vicente Calderon in which he scored 25 goals.
Chelsea were reportedly in for the Frenchman before he signed a new contract at Atletico, which raised his release clause from £42.5m to a huge £56m.
United would not be intimidated by this figure should Van Gaal wish to sanction an offer, with several big earners having left Old Trafford this summer.
