Alves will become a free agent this summer, and The Guardian reports that the Catalan club will allow the Brazilian to leave following Satutday’s Champions League final against Juventus.
The 32-year-old has previously stated his desire to play in the Premier League and United boss Louis van Gaal is believed to be an avid fan of the Brazilian international.
It is understood Alves will command wages of up to £120k-a-week, so United will have to dig deep into its coffers to lure the former Sevilla man to Old Trafford.
Despite his advancing years, Alves has played 40 games in all competitions this season as Barcelona claimed the La Liga title and have a chance to claims its fifth European crown in Saturday’s Champions League final in Berlin.
Alves could prove to be a solid option for United at right back after van Gaal failed to settle on a consistent defensive combination this term.
