Manchester United have an alternate plan for Pedro in mind, as they are preparing to make a £32.8m bid offer for Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson.
According to The Metro, Man United are hoping to take advantage of the Serie A club’s inability to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage.
The Red Devils did qualify, however, and were drawn in Group B alongside Wolfsburg, PSV Eindhoven and CSKA Moscow.
The Brazilian international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, and United will be keen to wrap up a deal for the player after missing out on Pedro.
The former Barcelona star was thought to be on the verge of completing a deal with the Red Devils, but he was ultimately convinced by his close friend Cesc Fabregas to join Chelsea.
Anderson would be a huge addition to the United squad should the Premier League side reach a deal with Lazio.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a breakout season for Lazio last term, scoring 10 goals in 32 Serie A appearances.
