Man United are ready to block David de Gea‘s move to Real Madrid, according to reports.
The Red Devils jet off to the United States today for a pre-season tour and The Sun reports club officials want a deal to be completed to prevent its tour being overshadowed by transfer talk surrounding the 24-year-old gloveman.
It is believed United boss Louis van Gaal does not want to take players who will not feature for the club next season, and the club are hopeful a deal can be completed on Monday.
Veteran goalkeeper Iker Casillas has completed his move to Portuguese side FC Porto, opening the door for the La Liga giants to finalise a move for De Gea.
United are in a position of strength over Real Madrid with De Gea, with the Red Devils understood to be happy to take the financial hit and keep the former Atletico Madrid man for another season and allow him to leave to a free transfer at the end of next season.
According to the report, United are demanding £35m for De Gea, however, Real Madrid are believed to have baulked at the Premier League club’s asking price.
