Roma chiefs admitted recently that they would be forced to consider any “huge” offers for playmaker Kevin Strootman, with United known to be firm admirers of the Dutch international. If he can prove his fitness after a long injury lay off, van Gaal may well view him as the final piece in his midfield jigsaw.
