Manchester United face strong competition in the chase for Bayern Munich ace Robert Lewandowski, with reports suggesting Real Madrid are keen to sign the Polish international.
Despite only joining Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014, the 27-year-old has been heavily linked with both Manchester United and Real Madrid during the off-season.
According to Fichajes [via Daily Express], Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is understood to be desperate to bring the striker to the Bernabeu.
If reports are correct, it’s a highly ambitious move by the La Liga giants as Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola will certainly not want to lose one of his most prized assets – especially to his old Spanish foes.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf on Thursday reported Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal had been handed a £73.4m kitty to find a world-class striker before the end of the transfer window.
Such a fee would surely be enough to turn the heads of Bayern Munich’s top brass, but it is unlikely the German giants will allow Lewandowski to leave this summer.
