Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is renewing his interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa and may look to make a bid for the Japan star before the transfer window shuts., according to caughtoffside.
The Red Devils had been monitoring the 22-year-old last season until a broken foot prematurely ended his season in January.
Kagawa returned from injury this month and it is understood that Ferguson has already sent scouts to watch the talented schemer in action.
Ferguson is scouring the market for a replacement for the retired Paul Scholes and is currently favouring a move for the former Cerezo Osaka man having received glowing reports from Germany.
The Premier League champions have been linked with a number of goal scoring midfielders, with Samir Nasri and Wesley Sneijder emerging as reported targets for the Old Trafford club.
But Kagawa’s eye for goal may appeal to the Scot. In his first season in Germany the Kobe born youngster scored 12 goals in 28 appearances.
The Japanese youngster could be tempted to make the switch having seen team-mate Nuri Sahin depart for Real Madrid and mounting speculation regarding Mario Goetze’s future at Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund will be reluctant to lose another star performer but will reluctantly sell for a fee in the region of £20m.
