The 25-year-old linked up with the Red Devils last summer in a £28.8m deal from Spanish giants Athletic Bilbao, and has gone on to impress so far as one of the club’s star performers last season.
Bagging himself eight goals during his maiden campaign in English football has warmed him to the United faithful, who are already looking at him as the successor to club legend Paul Scholes.
However, despite being the first signing of the Louis Van Gaal revolution, he could be prepared to break the hearts of United fans by hinting that he wants to move on from Old Trafford.
In a recent interview he claimed that he often dreams of returning to his boyhood club Real Zaragoza before he retires.
He told Radio Marca Zaragoza: “I have the hope of returning to play here.”
