Summer transfer business – B+
United have had a busy transfer window, and they have certainly impressed with regards to incoming players.
Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin should solve their old problems in midfield, while bringing in Matteo Darmian is a smart move – as the versatile Italian can play a big role for the club’s defence.
Currently, Memphis Depay is arguably their marquee signing of the summer. Van Gaal has a lot of faith in his fellow Dutchman, and his contribution this season will be key in the goals department.
Sergio Romero could play a bigger role than he initially anticipated if David De Gea leaves.
Angel Di Maria is expected to move on, while Robin van Persie has already left and is yet to be replaced.

Pre-season form
United impressed during pre-season, defeating Club America, San Jose Earthquakes and Barcelona. A loss to PSG dampened spirits slightly, but it was still a successful way to prepare for the new campaign.
Van Gaal had an opportunity to try different combinations and to see his new signings integrate into the team, and fans will hope that he found it all to be a useful exercise.
