A highly-touted member of Manuel Pellegrini’s academy, Cameron Humphreys could be a big star for the Premier League. Will Man United rob their rivals?
Man City youngster Cameron Humphreys has impressed during the Citizens’ pre-season tour – so much so that the club’s rivals want him immediately.
According to the Daily Mail, the 16-year-old Humphreys has greatly impressed in matches against Real Madrid and Melbourne City during the Man City summer tour. Man United in particular are keen on bringing Humphreys to Old Trafford amidst interest from Newcastle United and Everton.
The Daily Mail reported that Humphreys isn’t old enough yet to sign a professional contract and will have to wait until his 17th birthday at the end of next month.
Man United has fallen behind Man City on the table in each of the last two seasons and have just one double-digit goal scorer left on the squad after selling Robin van Persie. With improvements needed across the board to compete with the likes of Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal, Louis van Gaal needs to stockpile all the talent he can.
