Manchester United are set to make a massive loss on Angel di Maria, with PSG reportedly close to signing the Argentine international.
According to Daily Star, the Ligue 1 giants have offered £28.5m for the winger – less than half of what the Red Devils paid for the 27-year-old last summer.
United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is understood to have worked hard and attempt to get the transfer fee up near the £50m mark, however Di Maria is now desperate to leave and the Premier League club may cop the financial hit to get the Argentine off its books.
PSG boss Laurent Blanc on Tuesday suggested the move was “close”, and it seems the former Real Madrid man could be on his way out of Old Trafford.
“In the Di Maria case, the whole thing is close to being over. I’m rather positive about it,” Blanc is quoted as saying by The Sun.
Di Maria struggled in his debut season in England, managing just four goals for the Red Devils following his arrival from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
An attempted robbery on his home in February is said to have knocked the 27-year-old’s confidence and he is understood to have struggled to adapt to life in Manchester.
