Manchester United have been told that Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller is not for sale, but manager Louis van Gaal refuses to back off.
According to the Daily Star, Man United will table a £50m offer to the Bundesliga champions for the star striker.
Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed that the team does not wish to sell the star forward.
“Muller is not for sale. Our English colleagues seem to be unable to spend all of their money,” the Bayern Munich chief said.
The Red Devils are still looking to strengthen its attack following the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao.
The German international would be a massive addition to the Red Devils, with the German international scoring at least 21 goals in each of his last three seasons.
Muller would also be a long-term prospect for United, as he is only 25 years old.
It will be interesting to see whether van Gaal’s persistence will enable him to convince Bayern Munich to sell one of its most prized assets.
