Real Madrid will pay Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea a huge £12m sign-on fee should he see out the remainder of his contract with the Red Devils, reports suggest.
The La Liga giants were desperate to bring the 24-year-old to the Bernabeu this summer, however United are reportedly demanding a world-record fee for a goalkeeper in order to allow the former Atletico Madrid man to leave.
According to The Mirror, Real Madrid are offering De Gea a massive financial incentive to remain at Old Trafford for the final year of his contract and join the Spanish club on a free in 2016.
The news comes as a major blow for United, who are now likely to miss out on a major transfer fee for the sale of De Gea.
The Mirror’s report suggests Real Madrid want to pay around £25m for De Gea, while United are not keen to sell for ant less than £35m.
De Gea was left out of United’s opening two matches of the Premier League season, with Louis van Gaal believing the Spaniard is not in the right mindset to start in between the sticks for the English giants.
