De Gea has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, but as of yet a fee has not been agreed between the La Liga giants and the Red Devils.
According to The Mirror, the 24-year-old bid farewell to Manchester United staff at the end of last season and it is believed he wants his future settled before having to return for pre-season training next week.
The former Atletico Madrid man has just one year remaining on his deal with United, however Old Trafford officials are demanding a £25m fee for his transfer.
Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to offer half the amount, but United are understood to be happy to allow De Gea to run down his contract and play another season at the club even if it means missing out on a transfer fee.
