Manchester United have confirmed their Premier League squad numbers for the 2015-16 season.
And there is a big hint that Louis van Gaal is targeting a top-class striker as he has left the No.9 spare.
The Red Devils have been linked with Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller and Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur, who United host at Old Trafford in their opening game of the campaign tomorrow lunchtime.
One of the four signings that Van Gaal has already made, Memphis Depay, inherits the famous No. 7 shirt vacated by Angel Di Maria following the Argentine’s £44.3m transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo are others to have worn the jersey.

Fellow new boy Bastian Schweinsteiger will sport the No.31 shirt that he wore with such distinction at Bayern Munich, while Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian are No. 28 and No. 36 respectively.
David de Gea retains the No. 1 shirt despite huge doubts over his future amid links to Real Madrid. Potential replacement Sergio Romero will wear No. 20, but there is no squad number for Victor Valdes.
Defender Luke Shaw has swapped No. 3 for No. 23, leaving both of the traditional numbers for first-choice full-backs vacant, with Rafael da Silva’s exit having left United without a No. 2 also.
