Man United striker Wayne Rooney has backed new teammate Anthony Martial to become a “great player” after arriving at Old Trafford.
The England international caused a level of controversy last week after Morgan Schneiderlin revealed that he had asked him about who Martial was.

However, he has no doubts that his the new recruit will become a hit at Old Trafford and will look to support him during his first year at the club.
“I haven’t seen much of him play, to be honest, so I can’t say too much,” Rooney said, according to the Daily Mail.
“He was fantastic against Arsenal last season.
‘He’s got a lot of ability from what I’ve seen and I’m sure he’ll be a great player for us.”
Martial will be under pressure to deliver after arriving in a £36m deal from Monaco on deadline day, while boss Louis Van Gaal will also be under the spotlight too if it fails.
The Dutch tactician made several changes to his squad over the summer, and he will be expected to deliver instant success this season.
