Mirror Online claim certain sections of the United dressing-room are convinced this will be the Spaniard’s last season at Old Trafford.
De Gea’s future has been the subject of a flurry of speculation this season with the 24-year-old so far resisting United attempts to tie him down to a new deal.
And with just one year left on his current contract when this season comes to a close, stars have privately revealed they now fear De Gea is on his way to Madrid to replace Iker Casillas as Los Blancos No.1.
If he is to exit the club, Mirror Online say the United hierarchy will demand at least £50 million to release him.
However, the report goes on to say the Red Devils could possibly be tempted by a player-plus-cash deal involving Gareth Bale.
However, they would have some convincing to do with the Welshman adamant he will not be leaving the Bernabeu any time soon despite a tough second season in the Spanish capital which has seen him become the target of the Madrid boo-boys.
