Anthony Martial showed Old Trafford exactly why the club paid him those million in just his first appearance.
After an incredible 3-1 victory over Liverpool that was sealed with a goal from £36 wonderkid Anthony Martial, Man United’s stars were quick to heap praise on the young striker.
The Daily Mail reported that Ashley Young and Daley Blind were among the most vocal voices to hail Martial after his sensational debut at Old Trafford.
“It was a fantastic individual bit of skill, (there was) maybe a bit of luck in there as well, but the way he finished it was incredible and it’s a great start from him,” Ashley Young said. “It’s early days for him – he’s been away on international duty and only trained the last couple of days with us – but he’s young and he wants to learn.”
Daley Blind said he was happy for the former AS Monaco youngster had such a successful debut.
“I’m really happy for him,” Blind said. “He’s a big talent and we all need to be happy that he’s in our team and that he created a goal like this.”
The 19-year-old Martial was the most expensive transfer for a teenager in football history on a move that was viewed with skepticism. Prior to the match against Liverpool, Anthony Martial had just 9 goals since 2014.
