Although he was relatively quiet throughout the match, Man United striker Wayne Rooney spoke to BBC Sport afterwards.
He said: “Today was all about the three points. Pre-season was relatively short compared to previous ones. We’re still working. It was a big victory for us today.”
Although Man United still have question marks, they showed promise against a team that finished in fifth place last season and ultimately started off their season right with a win.
Rooney attempted two shots in the match, but neither of them were on target as the Red Devils attack stuttered.
Meanwhile, their defence stepped up big as the Red Devils held off Spurs superstar Harry Kane.
Goalkeeper Sergio Romero shined in the net for Man United, as he made four saves.
