To say that the relationship between Man United and Real Madrid has gotten testy as of late would be the understatement of the month. Nonetheless, the Red Devils feel confident that they can land one of the La Liga outfit’s biggest defensive stars.
According to the Metro, Man United are plotting a Summer 2016 transfer move for Real Madrid center back Raphael Varane. The 22-year-old Frenchman is poised to lose starting time with the La Liga giants and could very easily ask for a move if he gets sent to the sideline in the near future.
Varane joined Real Madrid on a €10 million transfer out of Lens in 2011 when he was just 18 years old.
In 67 appearances for Real Madrid, Varane has 1 goal. He also has 2 goals in 23 caps for the French national team.
Man United and Real Madrid have had a lot of tension over the past week-plus since a botched swap deal for David de Gea and Keylor Navas left a lot of Real Madrid execs fuming.
Real Madrid have even publicly revealed a list of players Man United tried targeting for transfer this past summer and appear willing to cut all transfer ties with the Red Devils.
