Schweinsteiger has been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, as a reunion with former boss Louis Van Gaal has been deemed an attractive proposition by the media.
Whether or not the German international is realistically open to the idea of leaving his homeland remains to be seen, but he is expected to hold talks with Bayern on Friday.
However, Rummenigge concedes that the midfielder has received the news of interest from England well, and in turn that represents a problem for the club when they begin discussions over a contract extension.
“I do not make a secret of the fact that Schweinsteiger is flattered by the involvement of English clubs,” he said, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
While it remains to be seen what happens with the World Cup winner, Rummenigge ruled out the possibility of a swap deal involving United misfit Angel Di Maria.
The Argentinian ace struggled in his first season in England last year, and in turn that has led to suggestions that he could leave ahead of the new campaign.
