Monaco striker Anthony Martial has been granted permission to leave the France national team to complete his move to Man United.
The French FA have now released a statement confirming the news, and it will be welcome news for United fans who had been hoping that Louis Van Gaal would add another striker to their squad.

“Anthony Martial was presented Monday at 11:00 at the gathering of the France team at Clairefontaine . He requested from Didier Deschamps permission to travel to England to sign a contract with Manchester United.
“Given the exceptional circumstances, the coach has acceded to the request of the player.
“Anthony Martial left Clairefontaine Monday at 12:00. He will return on Tuesday morning.”
The 19-year-old is considered a top prospect by both club and country, but Monaco’s ability to keep hold of him took a significant hit earlier this month after they failed to reach the group stages of the Champions League.
Whether or not that would have made an immediate difference to Martial and the club’s decision to sell is unclear, but with such little time remaining before the transfer window closes, something has undoubtedly changed in their thinking.
Meanwhile, it will be a welcome boost for United who have looked short of goals and attacking threat so far this season.
With Wayne Rooney struggling in the Premier League and summer recruit Memphis Depay also having his troubles, Martial will add another dimension to their attack and will be seen as a long-term part of the club’s plans.
