Barcelona forward Neymar could earn £75m if he joins Manchester United, according to reports.
The Brazilian international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent days, with United boss Louis van Gaal looking to bolster his attack before the end of the summer transfer window.
Reports have suggested the Red Devils are keen to activate Neymar’s staggering £140m release clause, with The Sun claiming he would become the most expensive player in Premier League history should he make the move to United.
The Sun reports Neymar could earn £300k-a-week if he was to sign a five-year deal with the Red Devils, meaning the star striker’s contract would be worth an incredible £75m.
It is understood the 23-year-old may be using United’s interest to secure a new and improved deal with the Catalan giants, and it looks highly unlikely that Barcelona will allow Neymar to leave this week.
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu said the club would be doing all it could to keep hold of Neymar.
“Neymar feels great at Barca,” Bartomeu is quoted as saying by Daily Express.
“We’ll have renewal talks later. We want him to stay for years and even to retire here.”
