In a photo that will certainly scare a lot of people over at Old Trafford, Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale was seen posing with the CEO of Manchester City while holding a jersey that was strikingly similar to the Citizens’ kit.
During Sunday’s derby between MLS clubs New York City FC and New York Red Bulls, Bale posed for a photo op with NYCFC CEO Ferran Soriano and held up a signed NYCFC kit – with the Etihad Airways logo on the front.
Soriano just so happens to be the CEO of Man City as well and is credited with bringing in manager Manuel Pellegrini. NYCFC is a member of the City Football Group, hence the identical sponsorship and nearly-identical kit designs.
But despite the photo op which certainly gives off the appearance of a buddy-buddy relationship with Man City, Bale said he’s happy at Real Madrid and plans to stay with the La Liga powerhouse even with the newly-hired Rafa Benitez.
“Of course, yes,” Bale told The Sun. “I’m a Real Madrid player and I’ll carry on as normal.”
“I am enjoying it and hopefully I can continue to.
“I feel settled. I’m looking forward now to playing and winning more trophies.
“My goal is to keep improving, performing and to win as many titles as I can.”
Bale made his football breakout as a winger for Tottenham Hotspur, scoring 30 league goals in his final two seasons with the club before signing a mega-deal with Real Madrid in 2013 and adding another 28 league goals since then.
