Alves lined up for the Catalan giants during Tuesday night’s victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but reports in Spain are claiming that he will leave at the end of the season to link up with Louis Van Gaal.
The 32-year-old is out of contract at the Nou Camp at the end of the season, and though Barcelona have offered him a new deal to stay, the offer from United is said to be much more lucrative, which has ultimately swayed his decision.
Alves is also believed to be annoyed at the way Barcelona have gone about their business in offering him an extended deal, and will now look to open a new chapter in his career away from La Liga.
