Manchester United defender Rafael is inching closer to a deal to join French giants Lyon, according to reports.
The Brazilian international has been heavily linked with an exit for Old Trafford this summer, and the arrival of Torino full-back Matteo Darmian looks to have ended Rafael’s career with the Premier League side.
Despite interest coming from the likes of Benfica and Roma, Talksport [via L’Equipe] reports Rafael has agreed terms with Lyon, with a move expected to be completed this week.
The 25-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford and has not started a Premier League match since October after breaking his ribs during an Under-21 hitout.
Rafael arrived at Manchester United from Fluminense in 2008, but has failed to live up to the hype and has struggled to nail down a starting spot during his time at the club.
Daily Express reports Rafael to be valued at £7m, but it remains to be seen exactly how much Lyon are willing to pay for the erratic defender.
