Manchester United are edging closer to the signing of Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia, according to reports.
Biglia has been linked with a move the Old Trafford in recent weeks, and Metro reports that the Red Devils are ‘within hours’ of completing a deal for the Argentine international.
It remains to be seen if the story is indeed correct, however, as United and Lazio are yet to agree on a fee for the transfer of the 29-year-old.
The report suggests Lazio are holding out for a fee between £21.4m-£28.6m for the former Anderlecht man, meaning claims that the move is just around the corner may be premature.
Having already secured defensive midfielders Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin during the summer, United’s reported interest in Biglia is somewhat staggering considering United’s depth in the position.
At 29 years of age, Biglia is not a player for the future and will offer very little re-sale value, however, there is no doubting his current qualities.
The midfielder has played in 53 Serie A matches since joining Lazio in 2013 and played a starring role last season as the Biancocelesti grabbed a Champions League play-off spot with a third-placed finish.
